BOS Power has been awarded a significant contract by Eurowind Energy A/S to develop and install one of Denmark’s largest battery energy storage systems (BESS) as part of an advanced hybrid power plant.

A landmark energy storage facility

BOS Power will act as the system integrator delivering 45 MWh, 2h battery system that includes energy storage, inverters (PCSs), energy management system, transformers, switchgears with engineering services to the plant. Eurowind Energy, as the client, will provide construction services for the plant.

The facility, part of GreenLab Skive, is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, providing ancillary and frequency control services to Danish transmission system operator Energinet. This project is a key step in Denmark’s renewable energy transition and will contribute to stabilizing the national grid while maximizing the efficiency of wind and solar power.

Enhance grid flexibility and stability

The co-located solar and wind hybrid park has a capacity of 84,8 MW, with an annual production of 186.000.000 kWh per year. The integration of the 45 MWh battery energy storage system will further enhance grid flexibility and stability, ensuring seamless renewable energy integration.

BOS Power’s battery energy storage system will provide fast-response power compensation, balancing fluctuations in wind and solar generation. This capability is crucial for maintaining a stable energy supply. The BESS will support grid stability by instantly releasing energy when needed, maintaining frequency stability, and preventing service disruptions.

“BOS Power’s expertise in large-scale energy storage and renewable integration made them the ideal partner for this ambitious project. BESS technology is a vital part of our energy parks, ensuring a stable and efficient power supply and grid stability by ancillary services for the benefit for both the community and the green transition,” says Morten Gaarde Global EPC Director at Eurowind Energy A/S.

“This is one of many projects with Eurowind Energy, a truly innovative and ambitious partner. Eurowind Energy is making a strong impact on the power market as a key player in hybrid energy solutions. Their commitment to carbon neutrality and grid stability extends beyond Denmark and positions them as a leader in Europe’s green transition”, says Carsten Højerup, Director PowerGen, BOS Power
