New contract for supply of electric propulsion solution to Bertel O. Steen Power Solutions
The all-electric passenger boat is designed and developed by Atle Ellefsen as DNV GL's contribution to the splice team to realize the project and becomes one of the world's smallest passenger ferries in composite, according to KODE. The new boat will be built by Easy Form and Måløy Verft in Sogn og Fjordane. Ole Bull has a capacity of 49 passengers and a crew of one to two people. The vessel will carry passengers to and from the Ole Bull Museum on Lysøen.
This is Bertel O. Steen Power Solutions' second contract for the energy system for electric propulsion vessels. The contract includes battery pack, charging system, permanent-magnet electric motors, switchboards and energy management system developed by Bertel O. Steen Power Solutions.
Propulsion solution well suited for smaller and weight-sensitive vessels
This contract shows that Bertel O. Steen Power Solutions has solutions that are particularly suitable for smaller and weight-sensitive vessels. We have invested a great deal in the development of electric propulsion solutions in recent years, including through the acquisition of Inpower in Molde, which is now an integral part of Bertel O. Steen Power Solutions. We are currently hiring several engineers in Molde where we have our expertise center with test lab and the specialists in power systems for the marine industry.
